As part of its mandate to develop the Derivatives Market in preparation for its launch, FMDQ Securities Exchange Limited (‘FMDQ Exchange’ or ‘the Exchange’) commenced its Derivatives Market Webinar Series in March 2021, executed through FMDQ Academy, its financial market education and capacity building initiative. The goal of the Derivatives Webinar Series is to introduce and broaden participants’ knowledge and understanding of Derivatives market, its application, market operations and risk management with key focus on peculiar topics such as Futures Contracts, Margining, Positions, Derivatives Risk Management, Regulation and Documentation.

The webinar sessions have been targeted at regulators and market participants such as FMDQ Exchange Dealing Member (Banks), FMDQ Exchange Dealing Member (Specialists), Corporates, Brokers, Asset Managers, Pension Fund Administrators, Insurance Companies, other non-bank financial institutions as well as the media under the auspices of the Capital Markets Market Correspondent Association of Nigeria. From March 1 to April 6, sixteen (16) webinar sessions impacting 1,004 participants have been executed.

Feedback received from participants include:

FMDQ is a pacesetter. I love the energy and synergy I see in my engagements with the Exchange. Always ready to educate and assist. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

The webinar was quite informative and goes a long way to clarify lots of ambiguities in relation to Derivatives.

The Training was very helpful and has deepen my understanding on Derivatives.

The delivery of the session was excellent, and I believe a good step in supporting the intended launch of the Nigerian Financial Futures Exchange.

More programmes will be scheduled in the course of the year, as we continually seek ways to deliver competency-based training to bridge the financial literacy gap in the Nigerian financial markets.
